Braxted Park: Renovating Period Properties

We are coming close to completion of our select new flats at Braxted Park, Streatham SW16. Once a graceful, old-fashioned house, it now comprises four spacious, light and airy flats – all retaining the elegant character of the original build.

Working with period properties affords us the opportunity to respect the original features of the building, and bring out the historical side of the property while transforming it into modern homes. Here are a few sneak peeks of how it’s all coming together, and some glimpses of how glorious the finished article will look!

One of the loveliest features of Braxted Park is its original stained glass windows, and we’re pleased to be keeping these, both for the conservation of the area and for the character of the property.

This room is stunning when the light pours through the windows and casts streaks of colour over the walls.

We’re looking forward to completing it and basking in a clean, finished room!

This room has almost the air of a conservatory, but on the first floor! We love the curve of the windows and the domed ceiling. It is incredibly bright and beautiful, and its situation overlooking the spacious garden gives it a very peaceful feeling.

Speaking of light, one of our additions to the building is this extraordinary ceiling of velux windows, which, when coupled with a wall almost entirely composed of glass, will allow this ground floor flat to be light and welcoming throughout the day.

This fireplace holds echoes of how many fires have been warming the house over the decades. Although we can’t keep this amazing pattern itself, we will be paying tribute to it by excavating into the fireplace, inserting shelving and implementing a brick slip into the back, to give the impression of exposed brick while keeping all the benefits of a modern, insulated wall.

And another of our additions: Taking advantage of the view of the attractive, quiet street, we have converted the second floor and implemented new windows to give more space to the flats.
